- TPE relationships
Your kink or fetish might not be the reason you’re seeking therapy, but it’s important to have a therapist who is kink-knowledgeable and affirming, standing with you in solidarity and community. You deserve a therapist who will:
- Maintain a kink-positive framework and view kink as offering incredible opportunities for healing, growth, and empowerment.
- Support you while you explore your interests and identities and navigate the world authentically and safely.
- Never assume that kink is the cause of any problems you're experiencing.
- Understand the impact of having a marginalized (kinky) identity and experiences with discrimination on your safety and well-being.
- Recognize that some kinky individuals have a trauma history, but this does not mean their trauma caused their interest in kink.
- Understand that your interest in kink may or may not involve your sexual orientation, gender expression, or identity.
