At The Pomegranate Institute, we are committed to providing explicitly sex- and pleasure-positive psychotherapy. We take an open, non-judgmental, and affirming approach to discussing sexuality and sexual expression, including:
- Viewing pleasure as a fundamental part of human well-being.
- Explicitly supporting sex workers and welcoming patients involved in sex work.
- Assisting patients in exploring and overcoming internalized shame, fatphobia, and homophobia.
- Recognizing that everyone deserves to experience pleasure and that it can vary widely among individuals.
- Prioritizing human rights and safety as prerequisites for pleasure.
- Acknowledging that sexuality is influenced by intersecting factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, class, ability, and culture.
- Providing comprehensive sex education that destigmatizes, is fact-based, and inclusive of LGBTQ*, kink, and non-monogamy.
